In 1900, Eastman introduced the less-expensive Brownie, a simple box camera with a removable film container, so that the whole unit no longer needed to be sent back to the plant for development.

Physical description

A brown leather box case with a fold ever lid on the top fastened with a press stud. Gold initials on the top N. S. C. A thin leather strap is broken.
Inside there is a black box Brownie camera, a leather handle on the top has an impressed label - BROWNIE. On the rear of the camera there is a circular impressed label - No 2A BROWNIE MADE IN USA BY EASTMAN KODACK Co ROCHESTER N.Y. There is also a small stuck-on label - N.S.Cohen. The rear opens to access the film holder and has printing
