Historical information

The Western Football Netball League (WFNL) began in 1931 as the Footscray District Football League, expanded across Melbourne’s west, became the Western Region Football League in 2000, and officially adopted netball into its identity in early 2024, becoming the Western Football Netball League.

Early 2024, the league officially adopted netball into its name and structure, becoming the Western Football Netball League.

Significance

Many of current and former Sunshine and District Football and Netball Clubs play in Western Football Netball League.
