Book - Chemist Prescription Book: Sayer's Pharmacy, 1921-1923

Historical information

Sayer's Pharmacy was owned and run by Mr A.E. Sayer from the early part of the 20th century until his sudden death in 1939 at age 59 years.
He qualified as a chemist in 1902 before acquiring his own business from his former employer, Mr Donegan.
He was very involved in the community as a musician, member of the Bendigo Bowl's Club and various charities.
The pharmacy was located at 38 Pall Mall, Bendigo, and part of the Myers store now occupies the site.

Physical description

Book with fawn fabric covering cardboard cover. Corners of cover are worn and there is staining of the fawn cloth.
Front cover has handwritten inscription 'From 99414 To 103308' and printed label 'Sayer's Pall Mall Pharmacy, Bendigo, 5.8.1921 to 12.1.1923'.
Book printed by Anderson Gowan Pty. Ltd., Art Printers, Bookbinders & Stationers, Melbourne, Telephones 6642 and 4740.
Registered No. 24614.
Book has index of names in the first part and then handwritten record of prescriptions in order of being dispensed.
Each prescription has the name of the patient, prescription number, medication and dosages, frequency of dosing, date dispensed, and the cost.
