The photograph shows Ballarat tram 26 in Sturt Street just down from Lydiard Street. Photo taken in January 1971 by Campbell Duncan. The buildings on the corner are the Commonwealth Bank and Allen's Music.
This tram was built in 1916 by Duncan and Fraser for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust where it was No.5. In 1920 it was reclassified by Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board and numbered 111. Sold to the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria in 1930 and became No. 26. It then passed to the SEC in 1934. Became part of the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society.
