Dispensary Book, Barnard's Dispensary, 1874-1876

Historical information

Barnard's Pharmacy was the first Chemist and Druggist in Kew. This is the earliest known ledger for the pharmacy. The first pharmacy was on the corner of Cotham and Bulleen Roads. He remained on that site until 1880 when the pharmacy moved to theother side of Bulleen Road. The Society also has in its collection two later dispensary books. Francis Barnard was a member of numerous organisations in early Kew. He was three times Mayor of Kew. He was succeeded by his son F G A Barnard.
