Charles Tansley was a wool classer mainly in Victoria, but also worked in Tasmania and New South Wales. In his career, he also worked as a wool valuer with Elders in Geelong.

Charles was born in Melbourne in 1898 and was educated in England at Bedford Modern College. He was sent home from England due to WW1 and was not enlisted due to health reasons.

Charles married Mary Brownjohn in 1924, and together they moved to Geelong in the late 1920s.

Charles is pictured in this news article on the right, in his role as wool valuer with Edler, Smith and Co. Ltd. in 1961.
