Historical information

These photographs and documents are items collected at the event marking the handover of Pino Calati’s artwork from the St Albans Community Youth Club to Brimbank City Council on the 7th August 2026.

These paintings were found behind the stairs at The Tin Shed, Errington Reserve, Main Road East, St. Albans. The paintings were then professionally restored and then donated to the Brimbank City Council on the 7th August 2028 by the St. Albans Community Youth Club.

Pino is also featured in the artwork "Visions of St. Albans" by Thea Dulcic.

Significance

Giuseppe "Pino" Calati was an Italian‑Australian sculptor and community artist active in St. Albans, Melbourne, born in 1916, with at least one documented work — a reclining stone figure — appearing in Australian art auction records.
