Historical information

This view is of the central business area and nearby houses of Bacchus Marsh looking east towards Melbourne. The date of the image is unknown but the Pearce Brothers store in the central foreground was opened in January 1887. It was was located in Church Street, close to the Bacchus Marsh Express building. To the right of the image Main Street can be seen. The house to the left of the picture, with a front verandah, chimney and picket fence is Parkside Cottage, 82 Main Street which still stands in 2026. Significance

An important panoramic view of the main business area of Bacchus Marsh taken sometime in the late nineteenth century or possibly early twentieth century.
