The Department of Transport and Planning publicly announced the new Route 405 on the 10th July 2026, ahead of its start date on 26th July 2026.

From Sunday 26 July 2026, a new Bus Route 405 Deer Park Station to Brimbank Shopping Centre connected Cairnlea passengers to trains via Cairnlea Drive.

Route 405 will made it easier to get to Brimbank Shopping Centre, Cairnlea Town Centre, Cairnlea Park Primary School and Victoria University Secondary College.

Route 405 used 14 new bus stops along Cairnlea Drive, as well as other existing stops.

Services ran every 20 minutes during the day on weekdays and every 40 minutes on weeknights and weekends, seven days a week.
