Liana THOMPSON served a the last mayor of Port Melbourne 1993/94. She was dismissed, along with the other Port Melbourne councillors, on 22 Jun 1994 when the Cities of Port Melbourne, South Melbourne and St Kilda were forcibly amalgamated to form the City of Port Phillip by the Kennett State Government. Liana served as the first mayor of Port Phillip 21 Mar 1996 - 21 Mar 1997 as part of the first democratically elected Port Phillip Council.
