A slightly cropped version of this photo appeared in The Sun News-Pictorial, pg 16, Monday 16 September 1946. The caption, in part, reads "Here the Mayor of Port Melbourne (Cr. J. Woodruff), second from right, is watching the Mayoress (Mrs Woodruff) sending down the first jack. Mrs. and Mr. T. J. Prest, parents of the Mayoress are on left; the Mayor is between two members of the bowling club committee."

The newspaper version of the photo is a bad reproduction (on Trove) but appears to have cropped out the man on the extreme left so a strict reading of the caption indicates that the man on the left holding his hat and coat is T J PREST. However, the order of the wording "Mrs. and Mr. T. J. Prest" is curious. Usual convention would reverse this order so it is possible to read the caption as Mrs PREST is on the left of Mr PREST and therefore they are the people either side of their daughter, Mrs WOODRUFF.

Also Thomas John PREST wore glasses (see Cat No 5298) as does the man to Mrs WOODRUFF's left while the other man, holding his hat and coat, is not wearing glasses.
