Historical information

Kenneth Mickle was educated at Queen's College, St Kilda, and after qualifying as a metallurgist, studied at the Melbourne University for three years. There he won the Grimwade Prize and other distinctions. At the outbreak of World War I he held a responsible position on the Burmah mines. He served in the British Army with the Royal Garrison Artillery and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) for his leadership and gallantry. He died on 30 July 1919 at the age of 33 after a long illness and is buried at Brighton Cemetery.
