Historical information

Item made by the MTOCo for burning coal tar in its boilers for engine houses. Used by the Company at the time coal tar from the gas works was provided a low cost. See item 9691 page 3 for a note on the use in a report by W R Pollock. Used with steam to feed the coal tar into the boilers through a venturi effect process.

Significance

Demonstrates an item produced by the MTOCo to burn coal tar in its cable tram engine houses.
