This is the second in a series of 6 coasters commemorating the Australian Defence Forces. The medals are: 1939-1945 Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-1945; Australia Service Medal 1939-1945.
Unlike the more conventional memorial halls and RSL clubs around Melbourne, the West St Kilda branch operated out of a substantial domestic mansion. It occupied a grand Victorian-era residence that was constructed around the turn of 20th century and bequeathed to the RSL during the Second World War. The property was sold in 2008, around which time the club ceased to exist.
