Historical information

Jack Lockett was born at Waanyarra, near Bendigo, in 1891. he left school early and worked for various people, including his uncles in the Mallee. He enlisted and served in World War One and returned home in 1919. He selected land near Linga after deciding to make a living as a farmer. He married Maybell Ingwersen in 1923 and built the house on the farm. Jack and Doll raised four children on the farm and eventually retired to Bendigo leaving the farm to their children. The photographs show a house typical of the 1920s but in a state of disrepair and no longer lived in.
