Historical information
This is the fifth in a series of 6 coasters commemorating the Australian Defence Forces. The medals are: Australian Active Service Medal 1945-1975 with Vietnam Clasp; Vietnam Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Bar.
Unlike the more conventional memorial halls and RSL clubs around Melbourne, the West St Kilda branch operated out of a substantial domestic mansion. It occupied a grand Victorian-era residence that was constructed around the turn of 20th century and bequeathed to the RSL during the Second World War. The property was sold in 2008, around which time the club ceased to exist.
