Photograph shows the Buckley & Nunn department store at 294-312 Bourke Street c1920. The elaborate facade displays many international flags, while a cable tram and many well dressed pedestrians are shown on Bourke Street. This photograph appears to have been reproduced in 1993 as a promotional item for David Jones department stores.

After opening its first store in Sydney 1838, David Jones expanded its operations into Victoria in the 1960s and acquired this Buckley & Nunn store in Bourke Street in 1982. In 1987 it purchased the former G J Coles building on the other side of Bourke Street.
