Photograph shows three modern low-floor trams manufactured by three different international companies positioned on the newly installed triple track section at Melbourne's Docklands. The first and third trams (manufactured by Alstom and Siemens respectively) had entered service in Melbourne in the previous year or so.

The middle tram, a 7 module Eurotram manufactured by Bombardier, had been transported to Melbourne to promote its products. While in Melbourne it transported passengers to the 2003 Australian Open and Grand Prix. The promotional exercise paid dividends because Bombardier won the future contract to manufacture the E class trams in Dandenong. It was then bought out by Altsom which subsequently won the contract to manufacture the G class trams in Dandenong.
