Historical information

Canterbury Girls' Secondary College opened in February 1928 as the East Camberwell Domestic Arts School, offering courses up to Year 10. Throughout the 1950s the official name of the school was changed a number of times and it was not until 1961 that the name Canterbury Girls’ High School was adopted, later changed again to Canterbury Girls' Secondary College. The school's motto, Fervet Opus, appears on a number of the exercise books in this small collection. It expresses the notion of working diligently.

Physical description

Collection of 13 exercise book from Heather Martin, former student of Camberwell Girls' Secondary School. Each exercise book is written in pen ink, the name of Heather Martin, her class, and the subject for which each exercise book was used. Subjects of specific books include history, geography, French, science, arithmetic for years 7 and 8. Exercise books including, spelling and handwriting for grades 1 and 2.
