'The Orchids of Bendigo' is based on the series of articles written in 1982 and 1983 by Tom Patullo and Bob Allen, and published in Whirrakee, the Bendigo Filed Naturalists' Club's monthly newsletter. More than 750 native species of terrestrial orchids are found growing throughout Australia. - of these, more than 260 species grow in Victoria with about 670 of these occurring within a radius of 50km from the centre of the City of Greater Bendigo.
