Historical information

Photograph - shows a view along Lonsdale St looking East with the ICI building in the far distance. Photo taken from near Elizabeth St and has one worker with some toolboxes and oxy-acetylene in the view. The cable tram track has been exposed and in the process of being dismantled or removed. This work was done c1960, when the MMTB determined that they no longer needed the routes for possible conversion to electric trams. The work to removed them was normally given to the relevant Council with the MMTB paying for it.
