Historical information
An article submitted to the Ex Prisoners of War & Relatives Association by Lex Arthurson, to be included in their newsletter. The article is an account of the trek to Bangka Island for the memorial ceremony for those that did not make it home. It was attended by returned nurses and family members of those killed or who died in the camps and the Japanese bombings of ships.
The nurses all agreed "we survived because we helped each other and cared for each other".
