Summary

Salmagundi: articles from a satirical periodical published by Washington Irving, his brother William Irving, and James Kirke Paulding. Twenty issues of the periodical were published at irregular intervals between January 24, 1807 and January 15, 1808. The articles lampoon New York culture and politics. The articles were later brought together in one volume. The work is subtitled 'The Whim-whams and Opinions of Launcelot Langstaff, Esq. & Others'.
Knickerbocker's history: A parody on the early history of New York City, first published in 1809. The work purports to be written by Dietrich Knickerbocker.
