A large crowd is gathered in the grounds of St Francis' Church for the blessing and opening of the Congregation's new Monastery by His Grace, Archbishop Dr. Daniel Mannix. The Advocate newspaper reported that some 8,000 people attended the event. The row of men in the foreground are possibly members of the Guard of Honour of the Blessed Sacrament.
