Central Deborah Gold Mine operated from 1939-1954 and during that time employed 357 male miners who successfully extracted almost one ton of gold (929kg) from the ground, which would be worth about $46 million in today's prices. Today it operates as an award-winning tourist attraction offering underground mine tours to suit every age group.
