The East Gippsland Family History Group was formed in 1979 and as such is one of the first regional research groups in Victoria. It is affiliated with the Genealogical Society of Victoria and the Royal Historical of Victoria. It is also a member of the local heritage network of East Gippsland groups, HNEG and is involved in many projects of a heritage and research nature for East Gippsland.
