Stawell Historical Society Inc Stawell, VIC

To preserve the history of Stawell from 1850s to present time.

Early Stawell newspapers, photographs, historical records and museum objects make up this collection which is available for research. (Appointments are advised). Location is a custom built research centre and archive stores attached to the rear of the historic 1860 Pleasant Creek Court House currently used as a small museum.

Research Centre Longfield Street Stawell is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4:30pm

10 am to 4 pm Wednesdays & Thursdays weekly.

Entry Fee

$5 per adult donation to view the Museum which includes permanent gold field display historic photographs plus rotating theme displays such as Norwellan Woolen Mill and Stawell Timber Industries. Charges apply for research at $15 per hour negotiable for larger research projects.

We also have 4,500 plus historic photos of Stawell and district places and people in our collection.

Hi. You can get access to photos and information in our collection by contacting the Historical Society by phone 53583789 or email [email protected] with a request. We are open on Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 to 4:00. We have a very minimal research fee of $10 per hour or less if it involves a lot of research. Regards Gary Withers.
