University of Melbourne, Biomedical Rare Books Collection, Special Collections (1862)
The Biomedical Rare Book Collection is a unique and important collection of monographs, journals, folios and elephant folios that cover the development of Western medicine in Australia and internationally. The collection holds many significant editions that are rare and exist in only a small number of collections worldwide. The majority of texts in the collection were printed before 1850 and includes medical literature published from the mid-sixteenth-century to limited edition volumes from the 20th century.
