Established in 1864 the Victoria Racing Club is Australia's leading thoroughbred racing club. Located at the National Heritage Listed Flemington Racecourse, the VRC delivers 23 racemeetings per season including the world-renowned Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The Victoria Racing Club Collection includes cultural heritage objects which provide an insight into the history of horse racing in Victoria, with a particular focus on the roles, activities and history of the Victoria Racing Club, Flemington Racecourse and the Melbourne Cup. The collection presents a comprehensive history of horse racing in Victoria from 1840 to present day through a wide range of media: paintings, sculptures, murals, decorative arts, memorabilia, archival documents, books, works on paper, racing trophies, jockey equipment, photography and textiles.
