This robe was the last City of Moorabbin Mayoral Robe, and was worn by Mayor Ron Brownlees, (prior to the City of Moorabbin's amalgamation with City of Glen Eira and City of Kingston in 1994). It was donated to the City of Moorabbin Historical Society in February 2007 by the City of Kingston. 12/11/2018 Cr Steve Staikos MAYOR City of Kingston requests that CMHS loan the Mayoral Robes and Jabot with Cuffs for display at KCC Officess Nepean Highway Cheltenham on going 7 Years. The Moorabbin Mayoral Robe with Jabot is displayed along with those of former City of Chelsea Robes and former City of Mordialloc Robes at Kingston City Council Office . The KCC possesses the Mayoral Chains of each former Council and they are displayed on the Mayoral Robes for the Annual Opening meeting of KCC in February .The City of Moorabbin developed from the Moorabbin Roads Board of 1862, becoming The Shire of Moorabbin in 1871 and the City of Moorabbin in 1934. In the 1994 Amalgamation of Councils the City of Moorabbin was divided between the new City of Kingston in the South and the new City of Glen Eira to the North . This is the last Mayoral Robe for the City of Moorabbin 1934- 1994City of Moorabbin Mayoral Robe. Full length garment of royal blue material, 55% Polyester & 45% Wool, with gold braid on hem and sleeves. Full length Collar and the cuffs are brown mink and sleeves are lined with blue satin. Two brass clips on shoulders are for the attachment of the Mayoral Chain. Hook and eye fasteners join the front of the robe. This is the last City of Moorabbin Mayoral Robe and was worn by Mayor Ron Brownlees, (prior to amalgamation in 1994), and donated to the City of Moorabbin Historical Society in February 2007 by the City of Kingston. 2018 the Robe with jabot was moved to Kingston City Council Office Cheltenham for display with former City of Chelsea Robe and former City of Mordialloc Robe. A film about Legacy that featured Olympian Bill Roycroft and was commentated by Tony Charlton. It has not been watched but the details from the canister. The year is not known. Bill Roycroft, was an Australian Olympian Equestrian, who rode in five consecutive Olympics 1960 to 1976. He helped his team win Gold at Rome Olympics with broken arm. He was flag bearer for Australian team in 1968 Olympics and in his final Olympics was the oldest Olympic competitor at age 61. Tony Charlton, TV sports commentator with Channel Nine, producer and commentator of film. The connection between Bill Roycroft and Legacy is not known. He may have been a junior legatee, or even a Legatee as he served in World War 2 (according to Wikipedia). Two Australian Red Cross knitting pattern booklets for home knitters, c.1940's. They were used by Ms Dorothy Hunter. These booklets were collected over 15 years and were used for exhibition at Memo, Gallery Healesville Friday 23rdOct to 18th November 2015.Two copies of Australian Red Cross Society Knitting Book, one small and one larger. The front cover shows the name of the society, a large red cross with the title Knitting Book underneath. The smaller book has information about the purpose of the Australian Red Cross Society in war times, Price: Threepence. Second Edition. The back cover has information regarding free carriage on S.A Railways and by Adelaide Steamship Company. It also has a 5 inches ruler on the left edge of the back cover.The larger book has the same title with the addition of Parcels addressed "Australian Red Cross" are carried free over the railways. On the back cover is printed Copies of this knitting book may be obtained upon application to any Red Cross Emergency Service Company in Victoria.
