Train timetable including a history of Kew and advertisements for local retailers and merchants. Given the frequency of times mentioned, Coopers Kew Flyer may have been the distributor and producer. There is no indication that it is an official tram or railway publication. During the second half of the 19th century when the booklet was produced there was only a horse tram (1887-1914) and the Kew Railway Line (1887-1952). The Kew section of the Outer Circle Line functioned until 1893.Historically significant item documenting Kew's history in the 19th century. The item is the earliest piece in the collection documenting aspects of the Kew Railway Line.Small 30-page booklet containing a train and tram timetable for public transport in Kew (Vic). Demonstrates how the SEC used painted signs to advise passengers about fare payment arrangements.Folded metal and painted "Pay as you Enter" sign used on Ballarat single truckers until 1971. Shire of Eltham Archives: Series 69, Item 4 This video was produced for the Shire of Eltham by IMP Productions and provides a description of the shire, 277 square km on a north/northeast axis, some 25 km northeast of the centre of Melbourne with a population of around 40,000. Scenes include Yarra River, rural settings and urban settings, housing estates, Shillinglaw Cottage, Pigeon Bank at Kangaroo Ground, the Eltham Railway Trestle Bridge with reference to the fight by locals in the 1970s to save it from replacement, Montsalvat, mudbrick making and its use as a building material, the use of mudbrick in the Eltham Community Centre blending harmoniously with the environment. Emphasises people living in the area due to the qualities of life provided. Also the Living and Learning Centre, St Andrews Markets and other local markets, the Eltham Leisure Centre, cricket and horse riding at Eltham Lower Park, the Infant Welfare Centre (part of the Eltham War Memorial), how residents are mindful of protecting their historical heritage, the CBA bank and Allwood House at Hurstbridge, Tracey Naughton about the Eltham "As we are" Community Banner project and the “River of Life banner”, the Parks and Gardens office in the former Police Residence building (now the Local History Centre), Alistair Knox Park, road planning and types of roads, tree canopy, Peck's Dam, green carparks, road drainage, Gordon Ford's garden and natural landscapes, and Were Street shops in Montmorency. Planning for shopping facilities and carparks with a population of 40,000 growing to 55,000, Arthur Street Mall and carpark, local village feel in the shopping centre. Councillors and Council staff featured include Mary Grant, Bob Manuell, Rodney Roschellor, John Cohen, Alan Baker. Performances were held in the Kew Recreation Hall on 27, 28, 29 30 October 1954. Inscribed on the cast list is a later note identifying that Clarrrie Armstrong died on 13.8.1985. This booklet was produced by Hume City Council to commemorate the centenary of Women's Suffrage in 2008. It briefly tells of the efforts of the women who organised and petitioned for the rights of women to vote over many years. In 1890's women's signatures were collected and are recorded on the 'Monster Petition' which was presented to parliament in 1891. The booklet includes names of women from the Hume council region who signed the 'monster petition'. Some names of women in the suffrage movement. It also has names of women who became the first women appointed to various roles in government. This booklet was funded through the Victorian Government's Centenary of Women's Suffrage Grant Program and from the Victorian State government Department of Planning and Community Development.This is a small cream/brown coloured front cover booklet with signatures and area they lived printed on the front cover. From 1988 to 2021, Legacy held a public speaking contest for young secondary school students. It was initially called the Junior Plain English Speaking Award (JPESA) and later called Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award (LJPSA). Schools were eligible to send along up to 4 representatives to compete in a preliminary round. The winner in 1991 was Jamie Friebe from Warrnambool Secondary College. The 1991 final was held at the MMBW Theatrette. The following was taken from a programme in 1996: "The Award aim is to promote enhanced oral communication skills for 12-14 year old students and to help young people appreciate the ideals of Legacy - voluntary service, caring and comradeship - and the need for remembrance. It began in 1988 in the Melbourne area with the support of the Ministry of Education and The Plain English Foundation. Entries have grown from 24 in the 1988 competition to over 300 in schools across the State, plus greater numbers participating in the process of selecting four contestants from each school. In 1995, a successful Interstate Championship was held with contestants from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
