The main building has a comer splay and balustraded parapet with curved pediments, the words "Wybar's Buildings 1887" having been obliterated but "Caulfield Bakery 1887" with the characteristic wheatsheaf surviving in raised cement work. The walls are stuccoed and richly ornamented with bracketed cornices and keystones with masks extending to the Bakery. The main building is further distinguished by the Masonic symbol of the mason's dividers in the pediment whilst the upper level of the bakery is in overpainted brickwork. This collection of photographs contains a number done by local photographers including Thomas Johnson, James Harvey, Daniel Clarke, J Hider and P Dawson of Hamilton( and also Warrnambool). Some photos are dated 1873 and 1867 and names include C C Hunt July 17/66. This album contains a number of photographs by some of Warrnambool’s earliest photographers and while the subjects are unknown, the still add to the body of work by these artists which have survived to this day. This album contains a collection of family photos, greeting cards and hand drawn floral emblems. Among the photographs are two which have details on them: a young girl named Margaret Clarke aged 8 1870 and another of Charles Alexander Clarke. The photographers are from many places including Britain, Melbourne, Portland and a number by Daniel Clarke of Warrnambool. Daniel Clarke was one of Warrnambool’s more important photographers, operating a business for thirty years in the town. He also worked as an artist and taught art in local schools. He painted a number of versions of Tower Hill. He died in 1918 at the age of 91.This album shows a collection of photographs and cards which were important to families in the later part of the 19th century. It has artistic and historical significance, with the photographs in particular depicting many different styles of clothing and household details of the time. Work proceeding inside the Coffer Dam. This shows the curving downstream face of the Spillway section taking shape, the bottom edge being the line of the contraction joint between the wall and the energy dissipater which has still to be built. Note the steam navvy at the end of the bit of curved work ready to take out the foundations for the energy dissipater. The tall concrete pillar is a portion of the work at the intersection of the main and south wing walls which was built in advance of the rest of the work to accommodate the tail tower of the cableway. The Tail Tower for the first stages of the work stood on the ground. Part of it is seen erected on the pillar while part of it is still in its original position. To command the concreting of the pillar end of the south wing wall a twin hoist tower of steel construction was erected at the end of the belt conveyor. This hoist is 160 feet high. The belt conveyor will at a later stage be raised for the concreting of the upper portion of the dam and the trestles are now being built up for that purpose. A drag line excavator with a 2 cubic yard capacity bucket is at work near the tail tower on the foundations for the south wing wall. It was during this period that a number of significant improvements were made to roads and new bridges constructed within the shire that remain in place as of present day (2022). In many situations, the photos provide a tangible visible record of infrastructure that existed throughout the early days of the Shire.
