Jim Keogh owned Lot 7 of the Village Settlement. When the new CRB road went through c1920 his block was cut through leaving a small triangle of land on the high side of the CRB road. Lot 2 was bought by Harry Walker in the early 1900s. Harry was married to Eva Hand, one of the six daughters of Thomas and Eliza Hand. Harry cleared the land and planted half with raspberries that remained productive until c1928. Harry's son William took over the property. The land was cut in half when the new CRB road went through in the early 1920s. John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the area working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas.Black and white photograph showing a single storey white house in the centre surrounded by crops. Harry Walker's property would have been run by his son William in 1922. When the CRB Road cut through the property William planted plum trees on the opposite side. These are visible in this photo. An extensive raspberry crop is in the foreground. The building over the road on the left hand side is the corn and produce store built by Edward John Price (son of Edward Joseph Price) to capitalise on the CRB Road cutting through the Price farm. John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the district working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. Edward John Price (Ted)(1899-1974) was the third child of Edward Joseph and Annie Price. He lived a very industrious life in the area. When the new CRB road cut through the family land Edward John established a Corn and Produce store on a level area adjoining the new road . Along with his brother Charlie, Ted took up road contracting and formed Grange Road in 1923. They also took up contracts to metal the CRB road between The Gap and Olinda. Edward John married Myra Wilson in 1930. They lived in the first brick home built in the district. Prior to 1939 access to the Island was by punt from San Remo or car ferry from Stony Point. A bridge was opened in 1940 but increased traffic and low load capacity was a problem. The decision to build a new bridge was made in the 1960s.HistoricalColoured, bound booklet with a photo of the old and new Phillip Island bridges on the cover and the CRB logo and name on rear.
