This house was built in 1892 as a wedding present from his bride’s father to his daughter on the occasion of her marriage to Dr. Longden. Flagons were used by chemists to store liquids used for dispensing medicines to customers. Chemists made / mixed the medicines on their premises.Historical: Used in the Kiewa Valley showing change in the way chemists store their medicines as pharmaceutical companies now produce medicines already mixed. Aesthetic: Display - shape & in good condition.Clear brown glass flagon with straight sides two thirds up from the base. It tapers into the neck, and comes out over a lip, then in again and up to the opening. Screw top below on which 2 twin glass handles are attached. It could have been used by a chemist in his dispensary eg. to store sulphuric acid.
