First clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, Monday, 28/4/1971 about a plan by Mr Donald Fraser of Lindfield (NSW) to retain the tramway around Lake Wendouree and use Sturt St. as well as Ripon St. Item has map (see image) showing the proposed route and some comments about tramway museums, museums in general and static preservation. Yields information about the horse drawn tower wagon first used in Ballarat and has a strong association with some of the COTMA 1975 Conference participants.Colour slide, Kodak white cardboard mount, developed April 1975 of the first horse-drawn tower wagon at Sovereign Hill. This item was offered to the BTPS but declined as it did not have the storage space for it. Understood to have later been dismantled. Photo dated 24/4/1975. Horse drawn vehicles were used by the City of Kew to draw a number of vehicles including garbage carts. These clippers were used to groom council-owned horses. A well-provenaced piece of equipment used to groom council-owned horses. The item has local significance as a representative piece of equipment made redundant by the introduction of motorised vehicles.Metal horse clippers with wooden handles of a red colour. This photograph is likely to have been taken by a newspaper photographer when visiting the 8th Light Horse Regiment on manoeuvres with the 2nd Cavalry Division at Torquay Victoria in 1940. This assumption is supported by the identification of the districts from which the soldiers are drawn.
