Photograph: Jessie IMAM, Jessie Imam, Untitled #4 (fox bones - pattern), 2012
This work forms a pair with Untitled #3 (fox bones – ordered) / This work draws on ideas of death and the traces of a body that death leaves behind / The work aims to confront the viewer with the concept of death, but it is not morbid or macabre in its consideration of it / Instead of fear the work presents a quiet and beautiful image that aims to portray a feeling of acceptance in the inevitable destruction of one's body / In this work the bones of a deceased fox were meticulously cleaned, bleached and layed out for photographing / No digital manipulation was used to arrange the bones / The same bones from the same fox were rearranged and used for the other work in this series. This work was completed in 2012 as part of the artist's residency in 2011 at Birrarung, Laughing Waters (Laughing Waters Artist in Residence program - LWAIR) managed by Nillumbik Shire Council / Works produced there take inspiration from the natural landscape and the creatures living within that particular environment.Print - A digital photograph printed on hahnemuhle photo rag paper / edition 2 of 8 + 2 artist prints / Individual fox bones placed/layed out on a white background and arranged in an outward circular pattern. Simplicity was founded in 1927 in New York, Butterick is the oldest pattern company in the world, founded in 1863. One source states that Ebenezer Butterick is credited with creating the first multi-size sewing patterns in 1892. It is now been purchased by another company.15 Assorted dressmaking patterns: 11 from the 1960's and 70's, 3 vintage - Simplicity, Butterick, Style and Madame Weigel. One is a J & L Stretch Fabric Multi-Sized Family Pattern. The patterns are presented in paper packets with coloured pictures on the front depicting the items which can be made. Inside are tissue paper patterns with paper instructions. Pattern No 9196 has a yellow and white checked piece of material pinned to the front as a possible sample of the material used. The three vintage ones are Madame Weigel patterns, two for women and a child's one. All packets are worn through use and damaged.'Simplicity, Butterick, Style, Madame Weigel and J & l Stretch Fabric' patterns are printed at the top of the relevant patterns with appropriate illustrations of what can be made.sewing, sewing patterns, sewing equipment -

The Improved Martin-Adelphi Anchor. The introduction of cast steel in 1894 led to the improved Martin-Adelphi pattern, in which the crown and arms are cast in one, and, with the stock, are made of cast steel, the shank remaining of forged iron. A projection in the crown works in a recess (right image), and is secured in its place by a forged steel pin, fitted with a nut and washer, which passes through the crown and the heel of the shank.Stock-anchor - improved Martins patent, Adelphi pattern improved Martins patent anchor, Adelphi pattern -
