Paper patterns have been used by dressmakers and home sewers throughout the 20th century and are still used today. The Butterick Company was established in 1863 and was the first to mass-produce sewing patterns. The company was acquired by the CcCall Pattern Company in 2001. Jessen Dress Materials shop was at 116 Lava Street in the 1970s and 80s and Bargain Box Fabrics took over the shop in the 1990s

This is a paper envelope containing the instructions and cut-out material for making a woman's dress (day and evening) The envelope contains four loose items.
