These labels come from the Brewery of Hodgens & Co. who operated the Warrnambool Brewery west of the corner of Timor and Banyan Streets This brewery was established by Edmund Wheeler as the Western Brewery in 1866. Daniel Hodgens the principal of Hodgens & Co. owned the Warrnambool Brewery from sometime in the 1890s until 1909. (Hodgens died in 1907.) Daniel Hodgens also owned the National Hotel and the Pieter Both Hotel and leased the Union, Princess Royal, Prince of Wales and the Bayview hotels in the late 1890s.These labels are of considerable interest as they are artistically pleasing and are part of an important brewery business in Warrnambool in times past. .1 Oval grey and white label adhered to a piece of cream coloured card. It has a sketch of a lake and hills in the centre which resembles Tower Hill .This is surrounded by a wide border containing text. The label is discoloured .2,.3 Dark cream paper rectangular labels with black and white text. There are decorations of berries and leaves in one corner. The primary texts are contained in two long arcs and a black rectangle. Both labels are torn. .2 has a section missing. .4,.5 Rectangular labels with a curved top and extended side panels. It features,on a gold coloured background, the profile of Punch wearing a crown with a striped red and white stocking attachment. Punch has a long hooked red nose and is raising a flask towards his mouth. Above him in the curved top section are two diagonal red and dark green panels containing text. Underneath Punch are two rectangular wide, dark green and white panels containing text. The Hotel Warrnambool, the second in Warrnambool to have that name, was built on the site of the old Hotel Mansions (Ozone Coffee Palace / Ozone Hotel) which was destroyed by fire in 1929. The Hotel Warrnambool was opened in 1931 using the licence transferred from the Hotel Mansions. It has played a major role in the social and economic life of the city since this time.This luggage label from the Hotel Warrnambool is of some historical significance as the hotel is a prominent one in Warrnambool today built on the site of the Hotel Mansions regarded as the finest building ever to be erected in Warrnambool. Buff coloured rectangular label with maroon text. Two corners of the card are mitred. The label features a open ended wreath with the letters WH entwined in its centre. History of object is unknown. Member's name is not recorded on the ticket.Ticket dates from the club's first premiership year:1891. Club subsequently won another three consecutive premierships, becoming still the only VFA club to do so. Ticket is one of a run of tickets from 1880 to 2012 (complete except for 1915 and 1916 when the club withdrew from competition and 1899 and 1900 which are missing from the set).Rectangular card covered in black leather with fold in middle and small punched hole lined with metal intop right corner. Card has gold embossed border and two diagonal lines running top left to bottom right filled with red with 'ESSENDON' in capital letters. A margin around the four edges of the front of the card has been sectioned into groups of dates that correlate with weekends in November 1915, December 1915 and January 1916. Holes have been punched for the weekends of 20-21 and 27-28 November. The back of the card explains that, where a section has been punched, the holder of the card was on duty on the relevant dates at No. 5 Australian General Hospital. The hospital was established when it became necessary to establish a Military Hospital in Victoria during World War I. A new 40-bed Police Hospital on St Kilda Road that had not yet been occupied was taken over, expanded to take more than 600 patients, and opened as No. 5 Australian General Hospital in March 1915. It was soon found to not be large enough and tents were used until more permanent buildings could be constructed.Card, coloured brown on the front and cream on the back, printed both sides in black. David Lancashire's Christmas promotion 'Hallelujah', designed for KW Doggett Fine Paper in 2009, is an example of one of the many innovations that Lancashire has contributed to the Australian paper industry. Considering the celestial aspects of Christmas and a favourite song - Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' - Lancashire recalled a Wayang Kulit shadow puppet collected in Bali because of the way it interacted with light. Made from hide, the puppet was peppered with hand-punched holes to add intricate decorations to projected shadows. He adapted this concept to laser-etched paper and translated the fringed skirt of the puppet to die cut angel feathers. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Book of 10 All Day Tickets, numbered A001001 to A001010 printed for the Ballarat Vintage Tramway, contained within an orange colour front cardboard (front cover) and brown cardboard back cover sheet, with a single staple on the left hand side. On the front cover is stamped the first number of the ticket block. Each ticket is from a light yellow card stock, printed with green ink showing the month of issue on the sides and date of issue (1 to 31) on the top or bottom. Each ticket is numbered and has a perforated left edge to enable it to be torn from the book. Ticket punched by the conductor to shown the month and date of issue. On all tickets, just to the left of the staple has been printed with the Printers name and phone number. On the cover, the same information has been impressed on the cover as well, but no ink.
