The Queen's journey through Lilydale and district during her Australian tour, 1954Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh passed through Lilydale by train 6 March 1954 on their way to Warburton. Residents along the route turned out to see the royal couple. The royal visit made such an impression that it is still vividly remembered six decades later. Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, were to have toured Australia in 1952, but this was postponed following the death of her father, King George VI. Flag originally made for a visit by the, then, Princess Elizabeth, in 1952. That tour cancelled until 1954, when she was queen. Word 'Future' on flag painted over, also '1952' has '1954' superimposed on it. -

Commemorative medal commissioned by the Victorian state government as a souvenir of the Royal Visit by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh to Victoria in 1954. The medal was presented to all Victorian school children. It was struck by Stokes & Sons of Melbourne. The Queen and Prince Philip visited Victoria from 24 February to 9 March 1954. The first reigning monarch to tour Australia, she arrived in Sydney on 3 February 1954 and departed the country from Fremantle on 1 April 1954. The Royal party visited all the capital cities apart from Darwin, and over 70 country towns.Bronze medal, hanging from a rectangular bar. Correspondence between Mrs T. R. Mannix, Swan Hill Wolf Cub Pack master to District Scout Commissioner Mr J. I. Samson for an invitation to be included with the local scout groups in functions to welcome Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh to Bendigo on Friday, the 5th of March 1954.
