This is a more recent photograph than entry P0854.The two storey house was built for Dr.William Faulkner in 1911. It is opposite the intersection of Evans and Macedon Streets. As well as the house, a garage was also built for the doctor's car, along with smaller building for the chauffeur. Dr. Faulkner was one of the first people in Sunbury to own a car. Doctor Faulkner lived at Ardcloney until he died in 1922. Over the years it had other owners and in the early 2000s, it was taken over by the State government and is now a day-care hospital. Pat Ryan, born 1919, was a daughter of Jim Ryan, hairdresser and tobacconist. She moved to Linton as a child in 1926 when her father bought the former Bennett/Todd shop in 1926. Katherine Veronica Cunningham was born at Cape Clear in 1907. Pat Ryan and Kath Cunningham were members of the Linton Amateur Dramatic Society in the 1930s and 1940s. (See programmes in LDHS for Amateur Dramatic Society productions.) Kath Cunningham worked at the Railway Hotel. The group in the photograph at the opening of the former Sunbury Courthouse. The Courthouse was built in 1885 and functioned in that capacity until 1989 when it closed. In the 1992, Shire of Bulla council began to restore the building, which was completed in 1993. It functioned as a Tourist Information Centre until 2019, when that service was transferred into the new Global Learning Centre in Sunbury. This music stand belonged to Eva Veronica Gaspar. Miss Gaspar (1913 -1978) was one of Warrnambool's most notable musicians and photographers. She gave free music lessons to Warrnambool and district children, organised choral festivals and ran a printing business. She was a life member of the Warrnambool Music Society and organized the Mozart Music Festival for many years. She was a Warrnambool Citizen of the Year 1956 and was awarded a British Empire Medal in 1972 for her services to music. She also conducted the Warrnambool Civic Orchestra, St. Joseph's church choir, junior choirs and recorder groups. In 1977 she held an exhibition at the Warrnambool Art Gallery of her photographs, drawings and monochromes. This music stand was used by Eva Gaspar mainly in Mozart Hall in Gilles Street. This stand is of interest as a memento of the work of Eva Gaspar an important musician in Warrnambool in the twentieth century.This is a wooden music stand with a circular base on four feet. The base has an outer ridge with a shallow indent and a domed top into which the pedestal is attached. The pedestal has decorative features . The ledge at the top is rectangular shaped with a projecting curved edge at the base. The top has a compartment for holding music and/or notes. The pedestal is attached to the top tray with a circular brace and metal screws. The whole item has been varnished but is stained and rubbed.
