Edward Thomas Warren arrived in Victoria in 1852 and joined the police force in 1856. He served in Geelong 1856-1864 before coming to Bendigo, where he remained until his death in 1892. He had retired from the police force in 1886. He had been a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters for 25 years. This fraternity aimed to provide social and financial support to members during sickness, death, old age, unemployment and disability.A 44 page document detailing the history of the local Warren family. Most notably the Senior Constable Edward Thomas Warren whom worked at the Sandhurst Police Barracks where it is currently leased by Bendigo Senior Secondary college.

Alfred Deakin was the second Prime Minister of Australia, after having served under Edmund Barton as Attorney-General. He held the office of Prime Minister three times: 1903-4, 1905-8 and 1909-10. He was buried in St Kilda cemetery after a state funeral. Elizabeth Martha Anne (Pattie) Browne married Alfred Deakin in 1882, when she was 19 years old. They had three children, Ivy, Stella and Vera. Pattie Deakin was awarded a CBE (Commander of the British Empire), for her contribution to public life. The Williamstown Council, which was formed in 1856, made an application to the Victorian Government for the Weights and Measures. Williamstown Council was the first council in Victoria to have/use these standard measures.Used by Council Inspector of Weights and measures to all shops, businesses, hawkers and delivery vehicles to ensure that all liquid measures and weights were correct. They were used until decimal currency came in 1966.Solid brass cylindrical measure with glass cap, which is part of the measurement system. Liquid must fill the container and penetrate the glass, lid via a central hole,to fill the well on the surface of same glass lid. Used by Council Inspector of weights and measures. The building in the photograph is a present day view of the former Lochton Mill which was built on a bend of Deep Creek in Bulla on 1856 on property owned by Captain William Morrison Hunter. Lochton Mill was one of a few mills that were set-up on the banks of Deep Creek in Bulla and Jacksons Creek in Sunbury.A non-digital coloured photograph of the ruins of a bluestone mill that was built on a bend of a river. The Chateau D'Ore vineyards were established in 1856 by Jean De Ravin (1832-1911). He married Louisa Smith in 1858. The winery was built in 1866 at Mandurang South.Glass Bottle. Sepia portrait of Horatio St Vincent Busst, born Bendigo 1866, died Kew 8/6/1940, educated at St Killians and Bendigo High School, in 1883 was appointed Mining Warden of Sandhurst and in 1889 was appointed Mining Registrar for the district of Sandhurst. Father Thomas Walter Busst native of Staffordshire England arrived in Bendigo 1856. Brother T.W.Busst Junior was an Australian Amateur Cycling Champion. Warrnambool, established in 1847, became a Municipality in 1856, a Borough in 1863, a Town in 1883 and a City in 1918. This bottle opener has most probably been produced by the City of Warrnambool for promotional purposes and may have been given as gifts to notable visitors. The logo used is a version of the original ‘By These We Flourish’ seal which was first adopted by the Council in 1856. On the top portion is the Royal Coat of Arms. On the lower section is a sailing ship and a sheaf of wheat. The seal was designed by John Macdonald, a local schoolteacher and auctioneer. This bottle opener is of some interest as a promotional item produced for the Warrnambool City Council. It may be useful for display. This is a bottle opener made of electro-plated nickel silver. It has a badge with blue, white and gold enamelling with the old logo of the City of Warrnambool.
