Lloyd Brothers butchers were located on the NW corner Whitehorse Road and Elgar Roads; previously the premises of Edward Tacey, butcher, established in 1888. There was an abattoir adjoining the premises. In 1901 the Box Hill Reporter contained a protest regarding the proposed extension of the abattoir. In 1907 it was claimed that the development of land in Mont Albert was hindered by the smells and operations of the abattoir. The disused cottage was owned by Alec Lloyd who was the fruiterer in Sunbury. It was situated on a sheep run on the Diggers Rest-Toolern Vale Road and was destroyed by fire in the early 1990's.A coloured photograph of a weatherboard farm cottage in a paddock with tall gum trees behind the house. The cottage with a pitched roof over the main structure and a lean-to with skillion roof at the rear is used as a storage for hay. See KVHS 0965. The 125 year old hotel was burnt down in December 2011. A popular destination for the district and visitors with many fly fishermen staying there.Mr and Mrs Crotty were the first publicans of the hotel. It had a long history providing employment, accommodation, entertainment and socialising throughout the years to the residents of the Kiewa Valley.Black and white photo glued onto thick cardboard creating a frame. Photo of a Legacy widow with three children in a kitchen. Two children are holding Legacy Appeal tins. It was taken for an article to promote a Legacy appeal in the Herald newspaper. The article explains that Legacy helped Amy Lloyd after her husband passed away a couple of years before. Mr Lloyd had served in the Middle East in World War 2 and had helped raise his grandchildren. The grandchildren, Amy 3, Justin 9, and Brenton 5, were greatly impacted by his loss. Legacy helped Mrs Lloyd with financial matters and in being granted a war widows pension. The article mentions that in 'the past the organisation primarily cared for the children and young widows of fallen comrades - now it is caring for rapidly increasing numbers of elderly widows.' In 1990 it was caring for more than 23,000 widows and the numbers were increasing by 100 a month.
