Corkscrew
The corkscrew was discovered in a box with a 1906 newspaper article concerning the Victoria Police Museum and its collection. In it Inspector Cawsey speaks of the corkscrew as being the same given to him by convicted serial killer Frederick Deeming in 1892.Metal corkscrew on turned wooden handle. A small knife is attached in one end of the handle. The corkscrew worm has a cylindrical shape frame attached to the central stem. Manual - The Melbourne Electric Supply Co. Service and Wiring Rules, Melbourne Electric Supply Co. (MESCo), 1918
The Melbourne Electric Supply Co. operated a Power Station in Richmond and provided power to the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust and the Hawthorn Tramways Trust. They also provided power to Geelong and operated the Geelong Tramway system. MESCo Geelong and Richmond operations were taken over the SECV in 1930. The book gives the requirements for wiring of building and switchboard. Yields information on the electrical requirements that electricians were required to work to where MESCo supplied electricity. It would have been used in the development of the SEC rules. Has a strong association with one of the MESCo Electrical Inspectors.Book - The Melbourne Electric Supply Co. Service and Wiring Rules - 64 pages, centre stapled, dark fawn covers. Provides rules for the Melbourne (Richmond) and Geelong undertakings. Dated 1/4/1918. Has a number of printed updates pasted into the book along with a typed and hand witten note. Price 6d. Has an index.Some hand written notes on the various clauses. Has the stamp of "Electric Inspector" in the top right hand corner. Sign - Tramcar number "330", Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), 1926
Used by the MMTB to indicate to conductors and inspectors, the tramcar number. Placed on the driver's bulkhead, facing into the tram with one at either end of the tram. The tram was built by Holden's Bodyworks in Adelaide, entered service in April 1926 and was disposed of in Oct. 1967.Demonstrates the method of advising crews the tramcar number internally.Set of 2 signs - galvanised rectangular sheet steel - provided with four screw holes, one in each corner painted with the numerals 3, 3, and 0. Functional object - Run Number Plate - E9, 1930/31
Based on the attached note "Experimental run number plate used by MMTB 1930/31 to decide if white on black or black on white should be used". Such plates are used by depots to indicate to Inspectors and other staff the allocated run or timetable trip for a particular service. Based on the note, used as a development item to be used on trams.Run Number steel sheet with corners trimmed and rounded, two holes for hanging, with an off-white background and the letter "E" and number "9" painted in black.
