Two newspaper articles, re the fight to save tree near Ringwood Timber on Maroondah Highway, late 1950s. The Yellow Box tree was located west of Ringwood timber, outside Bill Patterson's Motors near the New Street intersection. The fight was led by Cr Ben Hubbard, the secretary of the Ringwood Horticultural Society, Mr Kearsley, but was eventually lost. The articles are from The Herald and dated December 1957 and 11th June 1959.

These small cards were handed out to people who were interested in attending a series of concerts presented by the City of Melbourne and featuring brass bands. While there is no detail on which bands were performing, concerts were held at the Sydney Myer Music Bowl and the Melbourne Town Hall, both prestigious venues. The cards were kindly donated to the Victorian Bands' League by bands person Lindsay Patterson.These rare cards indicate a prolonged initiative from the City of Melbourne to let bands play at some of the finest venues in Melbourne at the time. A book published about the Laurel Club of Albury Legacy. The Laurel Club was a name used by many widows clubs around Australia. The book appears to be written in last 2011 or early 2012 when it was about to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Albury Legacy, which had been formed in 1932. The Grantbank Estate was a parcel of land close to the centre of the shopping area of Bacchus Marsh which was sub-divided and offered for sale in 58 lots on the 13th September, 1924. It comprised an area of 15 acres, being a portion of the Millbank Estate which had been in the hands of the Grant family for 75 years. The lots had frontages to Gisborne Road, Patterson, William and Sutherland Streets. This was a significant sub-division of land and represented a major expansion of residential housing in Bacchus Marsh in the early 20th century.This land sale map is a typical example of housing estate land sales advertising maps produced by real estate agents in this era. Helioworker: CPL Geoffrey White, SPR Lance Percey. Cook AACC: PTE R. Johnston. The first Royal Australian Survey Corps troops arrived in South Vietnam on the 10th of June 1966. This was a detachment from 1st Topographic Survey Troop, which was to give cartographic support to the Australian Task Force. Their main tasks were to establish a Theatre Grid, map compilation and map revision. Engineer Survey Support in the camp and to the civil community and give assistance to the Cordon Search Missions by producing large scale plots from aerial photos with every house and fence etc plotted and then reproduce these by silk screening usually, within a 24-hour period. This support concluded with the withdrawal of Australian troops from Vietnam in 1972. For more information on the career of A Section’s OC MAJ Peter Constantine AM, refer to item 6159P or 6092P. He was the CO of the Army Survey Regiment from 1975 to 1976 and CO of the School of Military Survey (SMS) from 1976 to his retirement in January 1982. His memoirs of active duty in Vietnam ‘Surveyor - Printer Behind the Lines’ was published in 2022. 2IC CAPT Frank Thorogood SB St J’s career culminated at the rank of LTCOL as the CO Army Survey Regiment from 1980 to 1981.
