He made a compact mobile refrigeration unit to keep the rabbits fresh in transit. His invention resulted in larger companies in Australia adopting the use of refrigerated trailers to transport perishables. The former mill and weir shown in the photograph were sited on the banks of Jacksons Creek downstream from the town of Sunbury. John Eadie, a Scottish immigrant established the water-driven flour mill on the banks of the creek after he arrived in the colony in 1866. The mill continued operating until the outbreak of World War 1 when the metal wheel and iron roofing were taken and used for the war effort. The hill in the back ground with the trees and buildings was the site of the former Sunbury Asylum. St. Mary's Anglican Church at Bulla originally occupied a site along Oaklands Road, adjacent to 'Woodlands' homestead. It was established in 1859. With there building of the Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine it was found that the church on its existing site was directly under the flight path of the aircraft so the building was demolished stone by stone and rebuilt in the Bulla township adjacent to the Alistair Clark Rose Garden. The original site has not been developed because some early graves are there.St. Mary's Church at Bulla is one of the earliest to be established in the Bulla district. The building is the former Sunbury State School 1002, which was relocated to the former Industrial School in Jacksons Hill in 1999. The Federation Style building replaced an earlier school building in 1912 and it is now incorporated into the Sunbury Community Health Centre complex. A school in Sunbury has occupied the site on the corner of Macedon and Stawell Streets from 1870 to 1999. The man photograph in a garden is Joseph David Starkie, who was a Bulla Shire councillor for more than twenty years and during that time he was elected Shire President four times. He was also a member of the Sunbury Waterworks Trust and served as the chairman from 1905 - 1908. While serving on the water board he was instrumental in Sunbury gaining a permanent water supply. A drinking fountain has been erected on a reserve at the Village Green to honour the arrival of the permanent water supply to the town. The installation of a permanent water supply benefitted the town and contributed to a more reliable rail service as steam trains refilled their tanks with water at Sunbury Station. The open are in the foreground was part of railway land on the west side of Sunbury Station along Horne Street. The initial preparations to develop the area into a commercial and entertainment precinct were just commencing. In 2000 work commenced on the further development of railway land on the west side of Sunbury station for the construction of commercial and entertainment facilities. Prior to this time the land had been undeveloped and was often used to accommodate visiting circus troupes. Cereal storage silos also occupied this area for some time. On 17th December 1985 record torrential rain fell in Sunbury, which flooded the main Melbourne Bendigo rail line and disrupted traffic. The photograph is looking to the north of the station and takes in the historic Macedon Street bridge and the open ground with the storage silo on the west side of the railway line.
