Historical information

Heavy snow fell across Melbourne and surrounding suburbs, including Sunbury, on 25th July 1985. The photograph taken from the pedestrian bridge at Sunbury Railway Station is looking north to the historic Macedon Street bridge. The widespread snow across the metropolitan area on that day caused much chaos.

Significance

Snow falling in Sunbury is a rare event despite the area's proximity to the Macedon Ranges.
