Historical information

The steam train has arrived at Number 2 platform at Sunbury Railway Station. Before diesel engines were used on the regional lines, steam trains were widely used. The pedestrian bridge spanning the railway line was replaced with a larger one and included a ramp, to allow for disabled people's in 2001. The water tank which supplied water for the steam engines is visible on the platform.

Significance

The Sunbury line leads on to Bendigo and Echuca and is one of Victoria's important regional rail services.
