Worn by Elizabeth Goodwin of Liverpool, England, who married Horace Book at St Andrew's Church, Brighton in 1921. The fabric was purchased by her father, a ship's captain, when he was in China. The bride had her dress made in Liverpool and made to a Butterick's pattern. Elizabeth was very active in public life and a well-known member of the Book family. Wedding dress made from cream silk purchased in China. The bodice is made of fine silk embroidered tulle with a vest of cream silk that floats over the top. A.J.Gregor, a Sunbury resident, had written the message on the back of the card to his cousin Harriet on the 11th April 1912 informing her of his state of health and some of the town's activities. John Cogdell of London worked at Bridgewater Gardens, Barbican London, England between 1750- 1773, and served his apprenticeship with his uncle, possibly William Cogdell another early tool maker. Little is known of J Cogdell but it is believed that his shop was taken over by Christopher Gabriel, another well known plane maker around 1773A very significant and rare 18th century item given it’s age made between 1750 1773 made by a plane maker who’s tools are now sought after by enthusiasts and collectors of vintage tools. By 1960/61 all the factors operating against a narrow gauge railway were in place for the Colac-Beech Forest line. As well as using a 2-6-2 Tank engine over 60 years old, 14A, the train by this stage only had a louvre van, two NQ trucks and a guard's van to bring to Colac. In August 1873, four of the crew were killed and the other four injured when the Pilot schooner Rip was overwelmed in heavy seas at the Heads. Gellibrand station became the railhead for traffic to the Carlisle River and Lardners, as well as the centre of timber and fruit trade. Outward loading was substantial at the time the photograph was taken. Sawn and split timber, firewood, sleepers and piles were loaded in large quantities. The general expansion in traffic led in October 1923 to the laying of an additional loop siding and provision for a goods shed., B/W. The slides have been photographed to make digital images and moved to archive quality sleeves. Henry was also one of four brothers that ran the Sutton's Music Store after the death of their Father Richard Sutton. Potter Kevin Crick was based in or around Moruya on the south coast of NSW in the late 1980s and 1990s. He exhibited at the Granite Grove Art Gallery in Moruya in 1987 according to an article in the Canberra Times. He made well-thrown and glazed functional ware with an impressed mark consisting of three horizontal lines in a square, with a raised circle bisecting the top line. The bronze medal commemorates the centenary of the government of Victoria from 1851 to 1951, as well as the centenary of the discovery of gold and was presented to the Shire of Wodonga in 1951. It was commissioned by the Victorian Government in 1951 to commemorate 100 years of the separation of Victoria from the colony of New South Wales in 1851. The medal was designed by the sculptor Andor Mészáros (1900-1972) and minted by K.G. Luke in Melbourne. The bronze medal has local, state and national significance, as it commemorates the centenary of 100 years of government in Vctoria. It also has aesthetic and social significance as an example of a limited edition bronze medal designed by the prominent sculptor Andor Mészáros, who is known for his work depicting the history, culture and sporting life of Australia.Bronze medal commemorating the centenary of the government of the State of Victoria from 1851 to 1951, and the centenary of the discovery of gold. Obverse: In the centre of the medal, a man and a woman riding a horse and the inscription "EQUALITY AND JUSTICE / THROUGH FREEDOM" in raised letters around the edge. The man is holding a torch representing equality and the woman is blindfolded holding a sword representing justice. The horse has broken free of its shackles representing freedom. Reverse: A stake surrounded by Australian floral motifs in the lower part of the medal; the inscription "CENTENARY OF THE GOVERNMENT OF VICTORIA 1851-1951" in raised letters around the top edge, and "Preseneted to / The Shire of / Wodonga / 1951" in engraved letters in the centre. The medal is in a small presentation box with dark green velvet lining an insert for the medal in the lower part and a light coloured textile printed with the dates 1851 and 1951 printed in the lid.
