Model of a Bendigo Birney tram prior to the painting of the safety stripes by the SEC during the 1960s. Not fitted with a trolley pole. Letter written by Pte David John Thomas, born Bendigo 18.1.1945, enlisted in the Regular Army No 38712, posted to 6th Battalion RAR in D Coy, posted as service in Vietnam from 8.6.1966, KIA in the Battle of Long Tan South Vietnam on 18.8.1966.
