The single arched stone bridge spans the Moonee Ponds Creek in the former Old Broadmeadows Township, now Westmeadows. The historic bridge is in Fawkner Street, and has a heritage classification. The Moonee Ponds Creek flows from the upper reaches of Greenvale and flows into the Yarra at Docklands.The stone bridge over the Moonee Ponds Creek was erected in 1869 and replaced a less substantial one.A black and white print of a non-digital photograph of a stone single-span bridge spanning a creek. In the days before television advertising and the WWW, commercial artists such as John Whittenbury designed posters, railway billboards and trade exhibitions advertising products and services to the masses. Whittenbury’s series of quirky Christmas mail posters for the Post Masters General Office, now known as Australia Post, were displayed in post offices across Australia. He had a wealth of experience in the field, having worked as an illustrator, graphic designer, cartoonist, and mechanical draftsman for the RAAF in Laverton and then Victoria Barracks, and also taking out a qualification in Advertising Art from RMIT in 1961, prior to joining the PMG. David Dixon RAN R112262. Enlisted July 1972 as a Junior recruit age 15 years 9 months at HMAS Leeuwin. Passed out as Ordinary Seamen QMG and posted to HMAS Sydney 111 in Sept 1973. Jan 1974 - Feb 1981 with HMAS Derwent River Class Destroyer. Feb 1981 posted to HMAS Flinders Survey Ship. Sept 1981 promoted to Provisional Petty Officer QMG and then to HMAS Cerberus Gunnery School. Promoted to Petty Officer QMG then to HMAS Yarra 1984 then to HMAS Gladstone. Discharged from the RAN June 1987. Re Enlist 1996 and did a refresher course and posted to HMAS Success Fleet Tanker then HMAS Brisbane till 2001. Posted to HMAS Kuttabul with Recurring Back Injury and Discharged from the RAN May 2002. Total 21 years service with 17 off at Sea.1. All three men had a long association with 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles. John Neale served in RAN during WWII; post war he joined 8/13 VMR as a trooper in 1948. He rose through the ranks to command the regiment in 1972-76, and later became Honorary Colonel. Ron Almond served in WWII; following the war he joined the Regular Army and served several postings to the Cadre Staff of 8/13 VMR including a post as Regimentla Sergeant Major. He also served with the Australian Army Training Team in South Vietnam. Bill Woolford served in the Royal Marines in WWII; post war he migrated to Australia joining the Victoria Police and was posted to Wodonga. Installed on building at 528 Whitehorse Road, Mitcham between 1938 and 1944. Building was a Newsagency and Post Office.Patrick and Bertha Markham operated the newsagency and post office on this site from 1925 to 1944. In the late 30s a range of photographic and developing services and supplies were added to the business. The sign was installed under the veranda on the Whitehorse Road frontage to advertise Kodak services. Also, their daughter Mary was a keen photographer and started a business as a child photographer. In 1944, both her parents died and Mary inherited the premises and continued the Kodak agency as part of her business. Mary and her husband, Harold, sold the former Mitcham post office to the PMG in mid 1957 and removed the Kodak sign as they departed.Metal sign L 1220cm x H 295cm .
